I met Shane Black on my first visit to LA in 2009. He was pounding coffee, sitting in front of a small group of soon to be college graduates, and making the film industry and LA sound awful. I believe he said something like this “Man, don’t move to LA. LA fuckin’ sucks. This business is 93% terrible. Just the worst, most god awful thing in the world…but that other 7% is sooooo good.” I don’t know why, but I’ve respected the guy ever since. And this interview is exactly what I needed to read this morning.
